Comments Off on Snow Sports Merit Badge & A-Basin Campout
The first camp out in 2011 is right around the corner so we need to start planing and preparing. We are going to enjoy Colorado’s favorite winter pastime of skiing/boarding with a winter campout! This is what you can plan on so far:
What: *Snow Sports merit badge
*Avalanche dog rescue drill demo
*Avalanche beakon search practice
*Avalanche probe pole line demo
*Shooting of the Avi lancher Gun (conditions permiting)
*camping at 10800′ in the middle of January (sleeping with the mtn. goats)
*lots of hot chocolate
*sledding and lots of other fun.
When: Jannuary 15 & 16th – skiing and camp out! (9:30 on sat to 3:30 on sun at A-basin)
Those needing a ride and drivers (which we still need more of), meet at PEPC by 5:30am!
This is a scouting event – WEAR CLASS A uniform for the trip.
Where: Arapahoe Basin Ski Area- Last Chance Parking lot.
How much: I got some great deals at A-basin and they are very excited to have us come.
Kids lift ticket : $17.00 per day
Adult lift ticket : $35.00 per day
Kids ski rental : $13.00 per day
Kids snowboard rental : $ 18.00 per day
Adult ski rental : $ 21.00 per day
Adult snowboard rental : $ 30.00 per day
( rentals do include helment)
*** cost will be less if you already have passes good at A-basin and your own equipment***
I am still working with the area on food costs and I will pass that on asap.
What do I need to do:
* Get excited to have fun
* sign up via email me @ flyski007@gmail or on a sign up sheet at one of the meetings. I need to know name, skiing or snowboarding, & if you plan on renting from A-basin.
* print out the snowsport merit badge worksheet
* Medical form
Other notes: * Everyone is invited. The snow sport merit badge is just extra fun.
* Everyone must wear a helment (bsa guidlines)
* “The Buddy System” will be stricktly enforced. Nobody goes off and skies by themself!
